BAS CONGO
Zongo Falls
This worth’s a stop. The winding waterway crashes down about 60m in spectacular fashion, creating a cauldron of steam mist between two sheer Cliffside is covered in foliage. The water eventually finds its way to the Congo River. A hydro electric dam is further downstream and provides some power for the region.

Matadi
A great place to begin one's visit to Matadi is the top point belvedere to the west of the town centre. It is the highest spot in the city with wonderful views.
Around Matadi you will see the rock of Diego Cao marking the furthest point of the Portuguese explorer during the maiden voyage of Europeans to the Congo River in 1485.
Also we have some fishermen's caves with excellent pastoral views of the river.
At 12km east of Matadi is the village of Pala Bala, where the first protestant church of the region was built.
Follow Matadi's road north and you will arrive at several sets of rapids, first the Yelela rapids roughly 15km outside the town.
Further north is the Inga dam.

Muanda
in this city we have the mangrove park that has hypos, crocodiles and several species of snakes.

Mbandaka
Mbandaka is the capital of the Equator province, lies on the Equator.
Henry Morton Stanley on his original voyage down the river, stopped here briefly to mark the equator.
The former President Mobutu Sese Seko Kuku Ngwendu WA Zabanga attended school here. It is also one of the main river ports. This is the region of Batwa (Pygmies); we have also IRES (a small village with a garden, park and zoo. This could occupy a small amount of you time, but Lake Tumba 100km to the south is a much better option with some guest houses and a basic beach, the wilderness around the lake is also home to a group of local Bonobos.
While being there one has the opportunity to discover the tropical rainforest and the pygmy culture where visitors are guests in different villages where they can learn more about the traditional customs of the Pygmy and Bantu culture. It has an adventurous character. Also we have botanical gardens, once a very prominent sight and once the best in central Africa

For birding, this region has got more than 400 different species birds with a high density of the Congo pear foal.
